Charter Halibut Task Force

Alaska recreational fishermen, charter operators, lodge owners and others who thrive on a healthy tourism economy in coastal Alaska have banded together under CHTF to secure a two halibut daily limit for all recreational anglers across Alaska.

Whether you're a recreational angler, or own/operate a charterboat, today you have the opportunity to catch two halibut per day because CHTF exists.
But the traditional limit is far from secure.

The Secretary of Commerce is expected to sign a rule any day that will put recreational anglers back to a one halibut daily limit and the charter industry will have to decide how to respond.

Your contribution to CHTF allows the organization to proactively take a stand against a one halibut daily limit, except in times of true conservation.

Your fishing experience, and your business, could depend on it.

Thank you for your participation!

CHTF Needs YOU to take the message to your community and charter boat associations. We can help prepare you, and provide the materials and talking points. We're running out of time and need your help!

Why Join?

Four reasons:

1. You are benefiting from a two fish limit today because of CHTF.

2. Your business may depend on a two halibut daily limit. Limiting an area to one fish will only cause angler demand to migrate to another area or out of state completely.

3. Recreational anglers and businesses that depend upon them, should not live in fear of the next tactic by the commercial sector to reduce recreational fishing. You can help establish recreational fishing as a valued and protected part of the Alaska economy.

4. The more contributors we have, the less each person needs to contribute and the more we can accomplish as a united group.

Our proactive efforts are paying off. The charter fishing industry is finally starting to speak with one voice and take effective steps. But much more needs to be done to ensure a fair and equitable allocation adequate that maintains the traditional daily halibut sportfishing  limit.
